Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has stated several times this offseason that he’s not worried about his contract situation heading into the 2020 season. Well, he definitely won’t have to worry now because he just signed a new deal.
On Friday, the Bills announced that Allen has agreed to a six-year extension that’ll keep him in Buffalo through the 2028 season.
According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, this six-year extension for Allen is going to be worth $258 million with $150 million guaranteed. This means he’ll have the second-highest salary of any quarterback when this extension kicks in, sitting right behind Patrick Mahomes and his $45 million salary.
This is a well-deserved deal for Allen, who became a legitimate star during the 2020 season. He completed a career-high 69.2 percent of his passes for 4,544 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Both sides should be very pleased with this deal, especially since the salary cap should go up over the next few years.
The Bills don’t have to worry about their contract negotiations leaking into the 2021 season, and Allen can now strictly focus on bringing the Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo.
Allen is now the first quarterback from the 2018 NFL Draft to sign a massive extension. Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson could potentially sign new deals with their respective teams in the near future.
