Chiefs Tight End Has Been Placed On Retired List

The Kansas City Chiefs are widely expected to be among the top teams in the AFC this year. But one Chiefs tight end who was a part of their last two Super Bowl teams won’t be joining them in 2021.

On Sunday, the Chiefs announced that they have played tight end Nick Keizer on the reserve/retired list. Keizer had just signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs at the start of free agency after playing the last two years for them.

An undrafted free agent out of Grand Valley State in 2018, Keizer initially joined the Baltimore Ravens. He spent the 2018 season on their practice squad and was released during the 2019 offseason.

The Chiefs picked Keizer up and kept him on their practice squad for the entire 2019 season. He got a ring after the team won Super Bowl LIV.

Keizer finally made his NFL debut in 2020, mostly contributing on special teams but adding six receptions for 63 yards in his debut season.

At Grand Valley State, Nick Keizer became one of the top tight ends in Division II. He earned First-Team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors as a senior and finished his college career with 45 receptions for 734 yards and 11 touchdowns.

It’s a shame that he’s calling his NFL career a wrap at the age of 26, but he’s hardly the first to call it quits so soon.

Good luck in retirement, Nick.
