Colin Cowherd Reacts To Latest Aaron Rodgers Speculation

October 14, 2021 by The Spun

FOX Sports 1 host Colin Cowherd.

Two weeks ago, Aaron Rodgers had an interesting exchange with Mike Tomlin. It led many people to believe the three-time MVP wouldn’t mind playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rodgers added fuel to the fire on Tuesday, when he said “You want those gritty, hard nosed, blue collar Pittsburgh tough type of guys,” while on The Pat McAfee Show.

On Thursday, Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd commented on why Rodgers to the Steelers makes a lot of sense. He thinks the franchise desperately needs a star who’ll bring a different type of energy to the building on a weekly basis. Rodgers would certainly fill that void.

“The Steelers are a proud brand but kind of dying,” Cowherd said. “They need someone with a cape to save them.”

Cowherd also said that he’s confident Rodgers will eventually be the starting quarterback for the Steelers.

“What Pittsburgh has always is what Green Bay almost never does: a great defense,” Cowherd explained. “The only time Aaron has had one [a great defense], they were ranked No. 2 team in the league and he won a Super Bowl. It’s going to happen, I really do. I think Pittsburgh is the No. 1, Denver is a shaky No. 2, and that’s it.”

It would be fun to see what Rodgers could do in the AFC North, as he would constantly battle young quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield.

The Steelers are currently projected to have $50 million in cap space next offseason, per Spotrac. That would give them enough flexibility to take on Rodgers’ salary.
