Under Nick Saban, the Alabama football dynasty is in its second decade of existence, and showing no signs of slowing down.
The Crimson Tide rolled over Miami on Saturday, winning 44-13 in Atlanta. The explosive offense we saw with Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa running the show seems to be in good hands with Bryce Young.
Nowadays, when people think of Alabama’s style of play, it is up-tempo and exciting, featuring dynamic receivers and standout quarterbacks. It wasn’t always like that though, as Saban’s early ‘Bama teams grinded things out on the ground and relied on a punishing defense.
It is that ability to adapt–in recruiting, hiring assistants, systems of play–that is the reason Saban has kept this thing humming, says Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd. On “The Herd” Monday, Cowherd praised the seven-time national champion coach for his ability to change with the times.
“Nick Saban is loyal to one thing: getting it right. He doesn’t care about being right,” Cowherd said. “The state of Alabama has the great adapter and evolver in sports in America.”

Cowherd is far from the first person to notice this about Saban, but it is remarkable how Alabama goes on year after year without missing a beat. Getting elite talent always helps, but you have to be able to deploy that talent optimally to win championships.
That’s something that Saban has done better than anyone since arriving in Tuscaloosa.
