For three years, Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines has been a model of consistency as a backfield receiving threat. Today, he’s getting rewarded for it.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates via The Athletic’s Zak Keefer, the Colts have signed Hines to a contract extension. Per the report, it’s a three-year deal worth $18.6 million.
Hines has not missed a game since going in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s had 893 rushing yards, 170 receptions for 1,227 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns since his rookie year.
Hines may not blow opposing teams out of the water with his rushing or receiving, but he’s proven to be a dependable option for the Colts. And the team clearly believes that he’s an important part of their future success.

Nyheim Hines also happens to be the third player from the Colts’ 2018 draft class to get a long-term extension this year.
All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson and All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard – both of whom joined the Colts in the same draft class – got big extensions earlier this offseason too.
While the Colts are still trying to find their long term answer at quarterback, it’s clear that they have a ton of valuable building blocks to give them sustained success once they find him.
Will Nyheim Hines be a big part of the Colts offense this coming year?
