Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup had to leave Thursday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to injury. Moments ago, the Cowboys received an update on the fourth-year wide receiver.
According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys will be without Gallup for three to five weeks. This isn’t great news for the fourth-year wideout, but it also could’ve been much worse.
The timing of this injury is unfortunate for Gallup, who is playing on the final year of his rookie contract. Every game he misses could potentially affect his value on the open market next offseason.
Prior to suffering a calf strain against the Buccaneers, Gallup caught four of his seven targets for 36 yards. He has proven to be a reliable pass catcher for the past three seasons.

Fortunately for the Cowboys, they have more than enough weapons to overcome the loss of Gallup.
Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb had their way with the Buccaneers’ secondary during last night’s game, combining for 243 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The Cowboys will need Cooper and Lamb to continue producing at a high level while Gallup is out. Additionally, they’ll need tight ends Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz to make an impact in the passing game.
After dropping their season opener, the Cowboys will be back in action next Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
