Cowboys Made 1 Change To Injury Report On Tuesday

September 8, 2021 by The Spun

In just over 48 hours, the Dallas Cowboys will take the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the first time in 2021. Apart from Zack Martin, who tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, the team appears to be close to full strength headed into the new year.

That being said, the Cowboys added a notable player to their injury report on Tuesday.

Dallas placed long snapper Jake McQuaide to their pregame injury list after a walk-through practice earlier on Tuesday. The 33-year-old was listed as a full participant with a foot injury.

It’s difficult to estimate how seriously McQuaide is banged-up, given that the practice the Cowboys conducted was light, but there’s no reason to believe that he won’t be available when Dallas takes the field Thursday night.

McQuaide took over as the Cowboys line snapper this offseason after spending the first decade of his career with the Los Angeles Rams. He took over for L. P. Ladouceur, who had held the position in Dallas since 2005.

McQuaid re-united with special teams coordinator John Fassel, who was his former coach with the Rams. He reached the peak of his career by making the Pro Bowl in 2015 and 2016, so he’ll be looking to get back to that level with the Cowboys.

Defensive end Chauncey Golston (hamstring), quarterback Dak Prescott (right shoulder), defensive end Tarell Basham (ankle), cornerback C.J. Goodwin (hamstring), defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (back) and safety Donovan Wilson (groin) also remained on the Cowboys injury list Tuesday, but reportedly were full participants.

Offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe (foot) was the only player who was limited. That means Dallas is almost full strength for Thursday’s season opener.

The Cowboys will do their best to steal a game on the road against the defending champs in Week 1. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.
