Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys will kickoff the 2021 NFL season in a big way with a primetime matchup against the reigning world champions this coming Thursday. Going into a full-capacity Raymond James Stadium, the 28-year-old quarterback is set to make his triumphant return after last year’s devastating ankle injury.
Some athletes may fold under the immense pressure of this moment, but Dak wouldn’t have in any other way.
“I love it the way it is. I wouldn’t want it any other way to be honest,” he said, per Cowboys insider Clarence Hill Jr.
“Them coming off of the Super Bowl title and us, having fans back to full capacity, I think this is what the NFL and the world needs.”

Prescott hasn’t played in a game since he suffered his season-ending ankle break during Week 5 of the 2020 season. After battling back through months of rehab and recovery, the two-time Pro-Bowl QB suffered a minor shoulder sprain in training camp.
But now, Prescott is ready to go for his sixth NFL season.
“I’m ready. I’m definitely ready. I’m excited. I’ve put a lot of work in to get to this point,” Prescott told reporters earlier today, per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

“I have high expectations for myself. I plan to come out starting fast,” he added, per David Moore of the Dallas Morning News. “I plan to come out better than I was last year, to be honest.”
Coming out with a hotter start than last year’s opening weeks would be quite the feat for the Cowboys’ QB. Through the first four game of the 2020 season, Dak Prescott logged a league-leading 1,690 passing yards (three games over 450 yards) and nine touchdowns.
The Cowboys will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday.
