Dallas Cowboys Osa Odighizuwa tried to be pretty deferential to Tom Brady ahead of his team’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One quote about the legendary QB’s “weaknesses” is getting plenty of attention though.
Odighizuwa was taken as a third-round pick out of UCLA. He’ll start in his first NFL game a week from today, and will be tasked with getting after the GOAT.
When asked about Brady’s weakness as a player, Odighizuwa took the bait. “He’s not very mobile,” he said, per Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I mean, you know, he’s been playing for 21 years.
“The dude is a little older, not too mobile. I’d say that’s probably what it is.”
I asked Dallas Cowboys DT OSA Odighizuwa about Tampa Bay QB Tom Brady’s weakness. The rookie answered with his chest: “He’s not very mobile. He’s been playing 21 years, dude is a little older. Not too mobile, I’d say that’s probably what it is.”

Odighizuwa did bring some numbers to back his assertion. He says, based on his film study of Brady, his passer rating drops a lot when you move him off his spot in the pocket.
“I think they says it goes down by 50,” he said of the Cowboys’ detailed scouting report.
He may not be wrong there, but getting Brady uncomfortable is way easier said than done. The Buccaneers have a very good offensive line, and few passers in NFL history maneuver the pocket the way he does.
Odighizuwa acknowledged that Tom Brady probably isn’t too concerned about what one rookie thinks, either.
“I feel like he’s not a guy who’s too worried about what I’m saying,” Odighizuwa said. “He’s obviously going to be aware of it, but he’s been doing this for awhile. People have been saying this, that and a third. He’s been doing his thing.”
The Cowboys and Buccaneers kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 9.
