Dallas Goedert Shares Honest Admission On Contract Situation

September 7, 2021 by The Spun

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert.

Much of the discussion about the Philadelphia Eagles‘ tight end group has revolved around Zach Ertz and his future with the team. However, there are questions about Dallas Goedert as well.

Goedert is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and for a while, it looked like he would be the unquestioned TE1 on this Philly roster. Ertz was expected to be traded at some point this offseason.

Then, the situation changed, and Ertz and the Eagles mended whatever fences were between them. Now, the three-time Pro Bowler wants to retire with the team.

Where does that leave Goedert? Well, for now, he’s playing without a contract extension, and the former second-round pick admitted to reporters today that he expected things would be different.

Goedert explained that he and his agent thought a deal would have been done by now, but that’s not the case. The former South Dakota State star is still hopeful an agreement can be reached during the season.

Dallas Goedert on contract negotiations with the #Eagles:

My agent thought we’d have a deal done by now.

“The team decided to go a different way.”

We’ll see what happens.

In 11 games last year, Goedert caught 46 passes for 524 yards and three touchdowns. He has 137 catches, 1,465 yards and 12 touchdowns in three seasons with the Eagles.

Both he and Ertz are slated to be free agents after this year, so Philadelphia has some interesting choices to make in the coming months.
