After the Las Vegas Raiders acquired a star pass-catcher from the Packers, rumors have emerged of the two sides switching roles in a deal that would send Darren Waller to Green Bay.
However, Derek Carr doesn’t think Packers fans should get their hopes up.
According to CheeseheadTV’s Aaron Nagler, the Raiders and Packers have discussed a Waller trade “with an eye toward a deal getting done during this week’s NFL draft.” Nagler said Green Bay targeted Waller while negotiating the Davante Adams blockbuster, but players aren’t allowed to get sent as compensation for someone signed under the franchise tag.
Despite the report, Carr doesn’t sound the slightest bit concerned.
When a fan responded to the Waller rumors by saying “don’t let it happen” to Carr, the quarterback delivered a simple reply of “Lol no chance.”

Although Carr now has Adams onboard, losing Waller would still sting. The former sixth-round pick exceeded 1,100 receiving yards in consecutive seasons before missing time with injuries and on the COVID-19 list last year. He still tallied 55 catches for 665 yards in 11 games.
The Raiders may welcome Carr’s feedback, but he doesn’t have veto powers. Perhaps his three-year, $121.5 million extension and Adams’ new contract have the front office looking to cut costs.
It remains to be seen if Carr knows the rumor is bogus or is simply speaking on his own behalf.
