Details Emerge From Injury To Ravens WR Rashod Bateman

August 11, 2021 by The Spun

Baltimore Ravens helmet on the field.

The 27th overall pick in this year’s draft could be set to miss some time after leaving Ravens practice Tuesday.

Wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who played three years for the University of Minnesota, limped off the practice field after an apparent lower body injury.

Baltimore has not yet discerned the seriousness of Bateman’s condition.

Story of today’s practice was an injury to first-round WR Rashod Bateman. Bateman pulled up while running a slant against Peters and then fell immediately to ground. Walked to building with pronounced limp. DeCosta followed him in building.

According to reporters, the Tifton, Georgia native went down after making a cut versus three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters. Bateman did not return to practice. However, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport provided a promising update later today.

“#Ravens first round WR Rashod Bateman suffered a soft tissue injury at practice today,” Rapoport tweeted. “He’ll have tests and the severity isn’t known. But it’s not structural.”

Evaluations are ongoing with Bateman’s injury and a source says he will be out for a while “but not a crazy length of time.” https://t.co/njp48p2Z69

The Ravens are no stranger to injury scares at Bateman’s position. Miles Boykin has sat out the last week with a hamstring issue and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has only practiced once this summer because of a similar injury. Bateman has dealt with various ailments since Baltimore drafted him on April 29th.

Bateman racked up 2,395 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns in just 31 college games. If Rapoport’s tweet is any indication, the former Gopher will be ready to go sooner than later.
