As if they needed any more help, the Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly close to striking a deal with the Washington Nationals that would land them two – yes two – star players. And yes, one of those players is Max Scherzer.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Dodgers and Nats are “making significant progress” on a trade for Scherzer and, believe it or not, star shortstop Trea Turner. The Dodgers would send a number of prospects to D.C. in return if the deal is finalized.
“BREAKING: The Los Angeles Dodgers are making significant progress on a deal that would send them star right-hander Max Scherzer and star shortstop Trea Turner from the Washington Nationals for a prospect-laden return, sources tell ESPN,” Passan reported via Twitter.
This will send shockwaves throughout baseball if the deal’s completed. Stay tuned.

The Dodgers are favorites to win this season’s World Series, but they still have work to do within their own division.
The NL West is an absolute slug-fest. The San Francisco Giants hold a three-game lead over the Dodgers for first. The Padres, meanwhile, trail the Dodgers by three games.
Both the Padres and Dodgers are in a race to land Max Scherzer. The Nationals would like to trade him now before letting him walk for free this coming offseason.
The Dodgers really have no other choice than to sell the house and land Scherzer, keeping him away from the Padres. It looks like they’re close to getting the job done.
