Dolphins TE Says NFL Won’t “Strongarm” Him Into Getting Vaccine

A tight end for the Miami Dolphins is strongly opposed to getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

Dolphins tight end Adam Shaheen told reporters on Saturday he’s not going to allow the NFL to “strongarm” him into getting vaccinated. He’ll instead comply with the protocols the league has put in place because of the pandemic.

“Adam Shaheen, who is not vaccinated for COVID, says NFL is ‘not going to strongarm me’ into being vaxxed,” wrote Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, via Twitter. “Says he’s going to comply with protocols so as to not be fined.”

Shaheen isn’t alone. Several other NFL players have come out in opposition of getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

This isn’t anything unexpected from Adam Shaheen. He made his opinions clear on his own personal Twitter in which his bio reads: “I will not comply.” His location, meanwhile, reads: “Somewhere without a mask.”

The NFL, meanwhile, will not mandate players to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The league has instead implemented stricter protocols for unvaccinated players, giving more freedoms to vaccinated players in the meantime.

Teams are also at risk of having to forfeit games this upcoming season. The NFL will record a loss if a team has to cancel a game because of a team-wide outbreak which could have been prevented. In other words, the NFL has given players and teams plenty of incentives to get vaccinated ahead of the 2021 season.

It doesn’t appear Adam Shaheen is going to change his mind, though. It’ll be interesting to see how the Dolphins respond.
