Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson gave NFL fans quite a scary a short time ago, falling hard on his shoulder during practice. But ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has an update that should give fans some relief.
Taking to Twitter on Friday, Schefter reported that Jefferson has a sprained AC joint. Schefter’s source told him that while it’s “nothing serious,” Jefferson will undergo further testing.
“Vikings’ (WR) Justin Jefferson, who left practice today grabbing his left shoulder after he fell to the ground, has a sprained AC joint, per source. ‘Nothing serious,’ per source, but there will be further testing this weekend,” Schefter wrote.
Jefferson is coming off a superb rookie season where he had 88 receptions for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns. He finished second in the NFC in receiving yards and earned a trip to the Pro Bowl for his efforts.
And yes, Justin Jefferson does play WR, but autocorrect did not realize.

The Minnesota Vikings missed the playoffs in 2020 after going 7-9 – their first losing season since 2014. But that failure was in many ways a bigger product of their bottom-10 defense than their top-5 offense.
This coming season will be a pretty critical one for head coach Mike Zimmer. He’s never missed the playoffs two years in a row since taking over in 2014.
Needless to say, Zimmer needs all hands on deck.
Thankfully, it appears that he’ll at least have Justin Jefferson in the not-too-distant future.
