Former longtime MLB announcer Thom Brennaman has another new gig in the booth, and this time he’ll be back in America.
Brennaman previously resigned from his job at Fox Sports last fall after being caught delivering a homophobic slur on the air during a Reds-Royals broadcast in August 2020. In December, he took a position with the Roberto Clemente league in Puerto Rico.
Today, Chatterbox Sports, a subscription-based service focusing on sports in the Cincinnati area, announced in a video on Twitter that Brennaman will be calling high school sports for the company.
“I’m so grateful and excited,” Brennaman says in the video. “I grew up here in Greater Cincinnati. I know what high school football, high school basketball and high school sports mean to this area. This is what I was doing at Channel 5 when my career started. Here we are coming full circle getting back out to high school sports.”

In the 11 months since his offensive on-air remark, Brennaman has seen his career evaporate and has been turned into an internet meme.
He has also been forthcoming about the efforts he’s put in with the LGBTQ+ community to make amends for his words, so hopefully he has learned meaningful lessons in the process.
