Giants Announce Official Decision On TE Evan Engram

September 11, 2021 by The Spun

The New York Giants have officially announced Evan Engram’s status for this weekend’s opening game.

Engram, who’s missed several practices in row with a calf injury, will not play in his team’s season-opener against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Superstar running back Saquon Barkley and several other Giants were limited in today’s practice. Engram was the only player to notch a DNP.

RB Saquon Barkley is officially listed as QUESTIONABLE for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

Engram is heading into his fifth season as a member of the Giants. Last year, the 27-year-old TE logged 654 yards and one touchdown on 109 receptions en route to his first career Pro-Bowl selection.

In 2019, the former first-round draft pick missed eight games with injury (one for a sprained MCL and the rest with a sprained left foot). He also missed time in 2018 with MCL and hamstring injuries.

The tight end’s most recent calf injury occurred during the Giants’ final preseason matchup against the New England Patriots on Aug. 29.

Veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph, who joined the team earlier this offseason, will step up into the starting role with Engram’s absence.

The Giants will take on the Broncos at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
