It’s been nearly a year since Saquon Barkley played in a game for the New York Giants. He’s not officially set to return this weekend for the G-Men, but he has a great chance to suit up against the Denver Broncos.
Earlier this Friday, Giants head coach Joe Judge told reporters that Barkley had a “promising” week of practice. ESPN’s Jordan Raanan then said Barkley would be good to go for Week 1 as long as he didn’t suffer any setback.
With the Giants’ season opener roughly 48 hours away, they have officially announced Barkley’s status for their matchup with the Broncos.
Barkley is currently being listed as questionable for this Sunday’s game. He was listed as a limited participant in Friday’s practice, which is par for the course.
RB Saquon Barkley is officially listed as QUESTIONABLE for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

When asked about his status for this Sunday’s game, Barkley said he’s going to accept whatever decision the coaching staff makes.
“I’ma go in there, I’ma sit down and I’ma say, ‘I’ma do whatever the team wants me to do,’” Barkley said, via NFL.com. “Whatever they believe is the best thing for me and for the team, and if they feel like it’s ready for me to go, then I’m ready to go. If they think I should wait it out a little bit, then I’ll wait it out a little bit.”
Barkley is undoubtedly one of the most versatile offensive players in the league. However, he has missed 17 games over the past two seasons.
If the Giants are going to compete for a division title this season, they’ll need Barkley at full strength for most of the fall.
