It’s been almost a year since Saquon Barkley last played in an NFL game. That drought will reportedly come to an end on Sunday.
Barkley, 24, has been medically cleared to play in the Giants’ season opener on Sunday. The former Penn State star will be in the backfield to take on the Denver Broncos, per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.
“It’s official. Saquon Barkley was medically cleared, per source,” Raanan reported on Twitter. “He is expected to return Sunday for the season opener against the Broncos. Tore his knee in Week 2 of last season. Back 11+ months later.”
The Barkley bounce-back will commence on Sunday afternoon in the Giants’ season opener versus Denver. We can’t wait.

There were questions surrounding Saquon Barkley’s timeline to return earlier this year. The Giants were extremely cautious with the star running back during the preseason.
It turns out the Giants were simply taking every precaution possible to ensure Barkley would play in Week 1. The strategy paid off. He will be on the field when New York takes on the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon.
Before his injury, Barkley was one of the most electric players in the NFL. It will be interesting to see whether or not he’s the same player following an excruciating knee injury early on in the 2020 season.
