Patrick Cantlay claimed victory at the Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia today, holding off U.S. Open winner Jon Rahm to claim the title. And it was a special one.
Cantlay entered the day with a slight lead over Rahm and struggled to put the Tour Championship away. Two bogeys from Cantlay offset two birdies he had on the front nine while Rahm didn’t bogey all day.
Things got very dicey on the final few holes, when a bogey on 17 opened the door for Rahm to tie. But Cantlay was finally able to put it away with a birdie on the 18th, winning the tournament at 21-under par.
The golf world was delighted for Cantlay on his incredible win.

The win for Patrick Cantlay was his second in a row – giving him very rare back-to-back wins. He has three wins in 2021, and now has career high wins and earnings for a single year.
Cantlay has rarely lit it up at the majors though, which may be why he falls under the radar a bit. He hasn’t finished in the top 10 since 2019 and was cut from this year’s Masters and Open Championship.
But after the year that he’s just had, the next step for the 29-year-old golfer has to be winning a major.
Will Patrick Cantlay be a contender to win one of the four majors in 2022?
