Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was a full-time starter for the Chicago Bears defense during the 2019 season. He had 78 tackles and two interceptions that year.
Clinton-Dix signed a one-year, $3.75 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys in April of 2020. He was expected to be a major contributor for the Cowboys defense last season, but wound up getting passed up on the depth chart. Dallas, as a result, released the veteran defensive back ahead of the 2020 season.
The 49ers then took a chance on Clinton-Dix during this year’s training camp. The belief was that he’d have a chance to play in San Francisco’s secondary, given the team’s limited depth in that department. The 49ers went another direction and released Clinton-Dix on Aug. 31.
Now, weeks later, Clinton-Dix is getting a chance to play for the Raiders. They aren’t in need of much help in the secondary. He’ll instead begin on the practice squad where he’ll have an opportunity to impress the Raiders’ coaching staff.
Vegas, meanwhile, takes on the Baltimore Ravens tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.
