On Thursday afternoon, the drama surrounding the Arizona Cardinals and star quarterback Kyler Murray took another awkward step.
According to a new report from NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Cardinals have not made a new contract offer to Murray. As a result, other teams are “monitoring” for a potential trade.
With that in mind, NFL insider Mike Florio floated several potential landing spots for the former No. 1 overall pick.
Florio believes the NFC South would come calling if Murray was available. He named the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints as the “most obvious” trade candidates.
Here’s more from Pro Football Talk:
The most obvious candidates would be the three finalists for Deshaun Watson who didn’t get the new Browns quarterback: Panthers, Falcons, and Saints. This assumes that each of those teams would be OK with a quarterback who is on the very short side, by NFL starting quarterback standards.
Florio also floated the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles as a possible trade candidates.
“The Eagles possibly would be interested,” Florio said. “In the AFC, Texans also would potentially explore the possibility.”
The Cardinals could easily decided to offer Murray a lucrative contract rather than trade him. However, until they do, the rumors of a potential trade will only grow louder.
