Jackson State Spring Game On ESPNU: Football World Reacts

April 24, 2022 by The Spun

Deion Sanders at a 2022 conference

Deion Sanders took another huge step on Sunday when it comes to the elevating of HBCU football programs.

On Sunday, Jackson State held its annual spring game. This year’s game was different, though – it aired nationally on ESPNU.

Jackson State made school history, as its spring game had never aired on national television before. But things are changing with Sanders at the helm of the program.

Sanders’ prized recruit, Travis Hunter, shined on the bright stage, scoring two early touchdowns. Sanders stunned the football world by flipping Hunter from Florida State on signing day.

Sanders did everything he could to bring more eyeballs to his program and HBCU football as a whole on Sunday.

So @DeionSanders wore a @GoJSUTigersFB sweatshirt w/ his @Twitter handle, was mic’d up throughout the Tigers’ spring game, marketed his program, said ‘we live in the Portal’ & blasted his 2021 offense. In other words, he remained a showman: https://t.co/qLrYN4btp7 @FootballScoop

He landed a big-time recruit, too.

All in all, it was a pretty great day for Sanders and the Jackson State football program.
