Urban Meyer wants to give Trevor Lawrence as many weapons possible this upcoming season. The Jaguars, as a result, reportedly added a veteran tight end on Thursday.
The Jaguars are expected to sign tight end Jacob Hollister, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The Buffalo Bills released Hollister just recently, which was a surprise to many.
“Veteran TE Jacob Hollister is expected to sign with the #Jaguars, per source,” Pelissero reported on Twitter. “Hollister — who had 66 catches and six TDs over the past two seasons in Seattle — had several offers after his surprise release by the #Bills. Another weapon for No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence.”
Hollister began his professional career with the New England Patriots, playing a minimal role on offense. He became a much bigger contributor in 2019 with the Seattle Seahawks, catching 41 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns. A year later, he had 25 catches for 209 yards and three touchdowns.
The veteran tight end appears to be on his way to Jacksonville. He could prove to be a significant contributor for a Jaguars offense in need of weapons on the offensive end.

The Jaguars have a bit over a week to go until they begin the 2021 season. Some are still skeptical Urban Meyer’s the right man for the job as he attempts to help Jacksonville ascend from the NFL’s basement.
Trevor Lawrence has superstar potential, but he’s unlikely to reach such potential unless the Jaguars surround him with a legitimate roster. That could take a few years, at minimum.
