Jameis Winston still has to wait a few more days before he attempts his first regular season pass in the Caesars Superdome as the starting quarterback of the New Orleans Saints. However, he’s not waiting until Sunday to make an impact on the New Orleans community.
NFL Network’s Steve Wyche was first to report that Winston is donating $50,000 to the United Way of Southeast Louisiana. This donation will help out those in the New Orleans area who were affected by Hurricane Ida.
Winston has released a statement on his donation and why he felt it was necessary.
“Hurricane Ida has caused widespread devastation in our community and has impacted the lives of so many people across the state of Louisiana,” Winston said, via NFL.com. “My teammates and I are committed to helping our community bounce back and persevere day by day during this difficult time.”

The timing of Winston’s donation is quite perfect, as the Saints will host the New York Giants this weekend in New Orleans. The crowd at the Caesars Superdome should be electric for all 60 minutes.
Even though Winston hasn’t been in New Orleans that long, the former No. 1 pick has really embraced the city.
In three games as the Saints’ starting quarterback, Winston has completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 387 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions. We’ll find out soon enough if he can air it out against the Giants.
