FOX Sports 1 personality Skip Bayless used to cover the Dallas Cowboys, so the popular debate artist has a lot of stories about his time in Dallas.
This week, Bayless told one about former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson. The Super Bowl-winning head coach claims that Bayless is lying, though.
Bayless claimed that Johnson came to him to ask for advice about the legendary Herschel Walker trade in 1989. The Cowboys traded the running back for an insane NFL Draft picks haul which set up their 1990s dynasty.
“Jimmy actually came to me,” the FOX Sports 1 host said on Thursday. “It was the Saturday before the Monday trade, and asked me, ‘What if I told you I could trade Hershel Walker for a king’s ransom?’
“That’s what he asked me.”
Johnson took to Twitter with a three-word response for Bayless: “Never said this!”

Bayless, meanwhile, claims that he was stunned by the move.
“I said, ‘Seriously?’” Bayless said. “Because I wasn’t a big Herschel fan because he was nearing the end of his run. … He was battered and he was just about finished.”
Bayless was working for the Dallas Times Herald at the time of the trade. It’s certainly possible that Johnson would share some details of the trade with him, but the former Cowboys’ coach claims it never happened.
