John Harbaugh Gives Latest On J.K. Dobbins After Today’s Injury

August 29, 2021 by The Spun

Ravens running back JK Dobbins flexes during a game.

J.K. Dobbins was expected to be one of the breakout running backs in the NFL this year, after how strong he came on late last season for the Baltimore Ravens.

Dobbins’ role increased as the year went along during his rookie season. In his last regular season game, a 38-3 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, he broke out for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He’s run for 85 yards and add 45 through the air in two playoff games.

Most figured the Ohio State product would graduate to true bell cow status this year, behind Lamar Jackson in the Ravens’ dynamic offense. Today’s final preseason game calls his status into question.

Dobbins went down with a knee injury during the game against Washington Football Team, and was carted off the field. After the game, head coach John Harbaugh updated the timeline for the Dobbins situation.

“He’ll get tested tomorrow and we’ll see where we’re at, at that point in time.”

According to NFL insider Michael Silver, the team fears that the injury “is indeed serious.” It would be a major blow to the offense, which looks to take the a big step forward as the Ravens hope to be true Super Bowl contenders.

The belief among Ravens powers that be is that the Dobbins knee injury is indeed serious.

It took a while for J.K. Dobbins to really carve out his role, but he wound up putting together a very impressive first NFL season. He ran for 805 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging six yards per carry on the season.

The Baltimore Ravens open the regular season on Monday, Sept. 13 at the Las Vegas Raiders. We should find out in the coming days whether they’ll have their RB1 available.
