Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t played a down for the Cleveland Browns since the middle of the 2020 season. But will he suit up for them in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs?
Speaking to the media on Friday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski remained secretive about Beckham’s status for Sunday. He declared that he won’t let anyone know the team’s decision until just before the game.
“We’ll let you know 90 minutes before the game…” Stefanski offered. It’s a pretty obvious smokescreen and just about everyone knows it.
Beckham has been visibly fast in practice and seemingly unhindered by the leg injury that ended his 2020 season. Barring a setback, there’s not much reason to believe he won’t play.

Prior to his injury, Odell Beckham Jr. had 23 receptions for 319 yards and three touchdowns. But he was on pace for a career-low in receiving yards and catch rate.
At 28 years old, Beckham is still in his prime and should be able to thrive in this Browns offense. Nevertheless it remains to be seen whether he can be a key contributor to Kevin Stefanski’s offense.
The Browns made the playoffs and won their first playoff game in decades largely without Beckham’s help. He has three years left on his contract but can be released with ease after this season.
Beckham will have to play like he did with the New York Giants to ensure he gets to stick around beyond 2021.
