There is no bigger college football game in Week 1 than Clemson–Georgia on Saturday in Charlotte. Kirk Herbstreit will be there to call the action.
In addition to his duties as game analyst, Herbstreit will be taking his usual spot on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday morning. He’s got a message for Tigers and Bulldogs fans, too: show up.
“We will be LIVE from Romare Bearden Park in Charlotte Saturday!” Herbstreit tweeted on Thursday. “We are challenging Clemson AND Georgia to see which school can get the most fans at @CollegeGameDay! Let’s see who wins!”

Herbstreit is pumped that college football is back, and who can blame him? Opening weekend is always a special occasion, especially when the slate of games is as loaded as this one is.
Clemson-Georgia, which will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC on Saturday, is the biggest of the bunch. It’s a matchup of two preseason top five teams with College Football Playoff implications.
On paper, this game is a toss-up, and our staff picks reflect that. Six staff members took Clemson, while five took the Bulldogs.
