Former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit sent a rare congratulatory message to the Michigan Wolverines after they beat the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon.
Herbstreit wasn’t high on the Wolverines heading into Saturday’s rivalry battle. In fact, he picked No. 2 Ohio State to win the game. To be fair, most did.
Michigan didn’t listen to its doubters, though. The Wolverines dominated the Buckeyes 42-27 in Ann Arbor.
Herbstreit sent a message to the Michigan football team following the game.
“Congrats @UMichFootball on a game well played in every phase-Well prepared-Dominated the line of scrimmage-Defense contained the Ohio St explosive offense. Played like they wanted more-with an edge. 4 Qtrs from a @B1Gfootball Title & a place in the @CFBPlayoff Congratulations!”

It’s not too often you see former Ohio State players compliment the Michigan Wolverines. Herbstreit isn’t your typical alum, though.
The college football analyst has always tried to remove his own personal biases in his work. And, regardless of the team you root for, it was difficult to not appreciate what Michigan did to Ohio State on Saturday.
Even Joel Klatt of FOX Sports complimented Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines on the win.
“This was like a return to the Harbaugh identity like he was known for at Stanford and early on here at Michigan,” Klatt said. “That Michigan offensive line has just been tougher today.”
Michigan will now play in the Big Ten Championship next week. A win will cement a spot in the College Football Playoff.
