After a 3-0 start and some absolutely dazzling football, Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray ranks among the top candidates for NFL MVP. But don’t tell him that.
Speaking to the media this week, Murray was asked how he felt about being an early MVP candidate. The Cardinals quarterback responded that he’s focused on winning and that if they do win, accolades may come.
“It’s a long season and I was raised and taught that if you win as a team, the individual accolades will come,” Murray said.
Murray had five touchdowns in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. He followed that up with four touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings and completed 82-percent of his passes in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He’s scored a rushing touchdown in each of the first three games and has seven passing touchdowns while throwing for over 335 yards per game.

Kyler Murray earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2019 after going No. 1 overall and thriving in Kliff Kingsbury’s system. He followed that up in 2020 with a Pro Bowl season, but narrowly missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record.
Right now though, he has the Cardinals in pole position for a playoff spot – maybe even the NFC West title.
Arizona have not been to the playoffs or even had a winning season since 2015. That year they had a top-2 offense – which they also have right now.
