Latavius Murray Already Thinking About Joining 1 NFL Team

September 8, 2021 by The Spun

Jared Cook and Latavius Murray on the field for the New Orleans Saints.

Earlier this afternoon, the New Orleans Saints unexpectedly released backup running back Latavius Murray — making him a free agent heading into the 2021 season.

Immediately following his release, fans and analysts from around the league began speculating about potential landing spots for the former Pro Bowler.

The No. 1 answer? The Baltimore Ravens.

According to recent reports, this isn’t just a theory. Murray himself has now expressed interest in potentially joining the Ravens’ roster.

“I’m willing to discuss an opportunity with anyone interested in me,” Murray said, per NFL insider Josina Anderson. “At the same time, Baltimore is a team that was impacted by injuries, has a great chance of winning & a great coaching staff. I just want to get to work.”

Just got off the phone w/ RB Latavius Murray. He told me, “I’m willing to discuss an opportunity with anyone interested in me. At the same time, Baltimore is a team that was impacted by injuries, has a great chance of winning & a great coaching staff. I just want to get to work.”

The Ravens, who led the NFL in rushing through the last two seasons, are thin at the running back position after season-ending injuries for J.K. Dobbins and Justice Hill. As of right now, the Baltimore rushing attack will be led by fourth-year back Gus Edwards and backup rookie Ty’Son Williams.

Murray was released by the Saints after he reportedly refused a pay cut from the organization during negotiations yesterday, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Without Murray on the roster, Alvin Kamara will now be backed up by undrafted second-year running back Tony Jones Jr.

Stay tuned for updates on Murray’s next landing spot in the days ahead.
