Le’Veon Bell Has Message For Critics After Signing With Ravens

September 8, 2021 by The Spun

Heading into the 2021 season, the Baltimore Ravens find themselves with a major need for depth at the running back position. As a result, the team has signed an old AFC North enemy to help satisfy that need.

On Tuesday, the Ravens added former Pittsburgh Steelers star Le’Veon Bell to their practice squad roster.

The former two-time All-Pro running back hasn’t been the same since his contract disputes with the Steelers back in 2018, leading many to believe that the his days as an elite RB option are well behind him.

Bell, 29, took to Twitter this evening to respond to those doubters.

“They motivate me by sayin I can’t,” he wrote alongside a workout video.

After just two games with the New York Jets to start out the 2020 season, Bell left to join the Chiefs’ roster as a veteran backup. Through nine regular-season games with Kansas City, the former star logged 254 yards and two touchdowns on 63 touches.

The Ravens are in dire need of running back depth after season-ending injuries for both J.K. Dobbins and Justice Hill. As of right now, fourth-year RB Gus Edwards and undrafted second-year back Tony Jones Jr. will handle all attempts for the Baltimore rushing attack.

Free agent Latavius Murray, who was released by the New Orleans Saints earlier today, has also been mentioned as a veteran running back option for the Ravens heading into this season.
