The Lions selected Hockenson with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2019 draft. Injury issues limited the former Iowa standout in his rookie campaign, but he was able to bounce back with a Pro-Bowl season in 2020.
After beginning his third NFL campaign with 583 yards and four touchdowns through 12 games, Hockenson’s 2021 season was cut short by a thumb injury in Week 13. The 24-year-old tight end was forced to undergo season-ending surgery due to the injury he suffered during his team’s first win of the year.
Hockenson will earn a base salary of $965,000 and a roster bonus of $2.43 million in 2022.
