Look: 1 Top QB Prospect Isn’t Attending The 2022 NFL Draft

April 14, 2022 by The Spun

NFL Draft in Arlington, Texas.

21 prospects will be in Las Vegas two weeks from tonight for the 2022 NFL Draft. But one top quarterback who many suspect may go in the first round won’t be in attendance.

Conspicuously absent from the list the NFL of attendees released a short while ago was Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett. The 2021 ACC Player of the Year will apparently not be attending the draft.

Pickett saw his draft stock skyrocket after a historic season with the Panthers. He threw for 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns as Pittsburgh won the ACC title.

Very few mock drafts don’t have Pickett going in the first round of the NFL Draft. While he isn’t believed to have teams climbing over each other to draft him in the top five, most sports books have him as a top three quarterback.

Just announced: 21 prospects will attend the NFL Draft in Las Vegas, including Aidan Huchinson, Sauce Gardner, Malik Willis, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Ickey Ekwonu.

There’s any number of reasons that Kenny Pickett might not attend the 2022 NFL Draft.

He might prefer to spend the night celebrating with friends and family rather than the allotted number of people the NFL allows. He might also have prior engagements before or after the draft that a long flight to/from Las Vegas would interfere with.

But there is the outside chance that Pickett believes he won’t be a first-round pick. There are few things in the NFL more embarrassing than waiting all night as teams pass on you.

Kenny Pickett will hear his name called at some point on Draft Day. Whether it’s on the first, second or third day will be exciting to see.

Where do you think Pickett will be drafted?
