Look: Bryce Harper Hits Inside-The-Park Home Run

July 28, 2021 by The Spun

Bryce Harper reacts to hitting a walk-off grand slam.

Phillies star Bryce Harper hit one of the craziest inside-the-park homes runs we’ve ever seen Tuesday night.

On a 1-1 count with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and trailing the Nationals 6-2, Harper knew he needed to make a play for his team. He did just that with one crack of the bat.

Harper drilled a pitch out to the left center-field wall. Nationals center fielder Victor Robles tried to make a play on the ball, but couldn’t get to it as it bounced off the wall back toward the field. By the time another Nationals outfielder got to the ball, Harper was already on his way to rounding third. He was not to be denied. The throw to the plate wasn’t even close. Harper got home with ease.

This is one of the best plays we’ve seen all season. Take a look.

Bryce Harper is having a solid season for the Philadelphia Phillies. Entering Tuesday night’s game, the veteran right fielder is batting .289 with 81 hits, 35 RBI and 15 home runs. He’ll be adding his inside-the-park home run to his season highlight reel.

The Phillies will need more big plays from Harper in coming weeks. Philly finds itself 3.5 games behind the New York Mets for first in the NL East.

Can Harper and the Phillies close the gap and make a run to the NL East title? If Harper continues making plays like he did Tuesday night, they have as good a chance as any.
