Look: Damian Lillard Has A Message For Blazers Fans

September 9, 2021 by The Spun

The 2021-22 NBA season is only weeks away and people are still wondering whether Damian Lillard will play it with the Portland Trail Blazers. But Lillard had a message for Blazers fans questioning his plans for the season.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Lillard declared that he’s staying in Portland for this coming season. He declared that Rip City is his city and posted an image of Lillard giving high-fives to various fans.

“Back for more…” Lillard wrote. “#RipCity is my city.”

It’s been rumored for months that Lillard is dissatisfied with the state of things in Portland. But Lillard has denied the persistent rumors of his imminent departure at virtually every turn.

Damian Lillard has played his entire, nine-year career with the Blazers and has been one of the NBA’s best point guards for the better part of a decade.

Lillard has earned an All-Star nod in six of the last eight seasons, including the last four. He’s helped lead the Trail Blazers to eight straight playoff appearances, all while averaging 25 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game.

Just about every NBA team in need of a guard would move heaven and earth to bring the 31-year-old guard into the fold.

But while Lillard’s long-term future in the NBA may be a mystery, it seems clear that he isn’t going anywhere for now.

Will Damian Lillard play the entire 2021-22 season for the Portland Trail Blazers?
