Former MLB pitcher Mike Montgomery completely lost his composure on Friday while pitching for the Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization.
Montgomery was ejected from Friday’s game shortly after he was warned by the umpire about the league’s 12-second pitch rule. That didn’t sit well with Montgomery, who actually threw the rosin bag at the umpire.
Several players on the Lions had to usher Montgomery to the dugout. He even made a scene in the dugout, as he removed his jersey and threw it out on the field.
Overall, it was just a really ugly scene for Montgomery. It’s unclear what his future in the KBO will look like after this meltdown.
Here’s the video of Montgomery throwing the rosin bag at the umpire:
Former #Cubs LHP Mike Montgomery made a run at home-plate umpire and threw a rosin bag and connected. He was warned about ‘12 second pitch rule’ and maybe that’s why he got upset? Highly unlikely that he’s going throw another pitch in #KBO after this. #SamsungLions pic.twitter.com/OXE8ITlFEm

The Lions have not yet commented on Montgomery’s situation. We’d imagine he’ll be disciplined for his actions.
Montgomery, 32, began his MLB career with the Seattle Mariners. His stint with the franchise didn’t last very long since he was traded to the Chicago Cubs.
Additionally, Montgomery played for the Kansas City Royals. He appeared in three games for the Royals in 2020 before signing a $450,000 deal with the Lions.
Over the course of his MLB career, Montgomery had a 23-34 record with a 3.84 ERA and 415 strikeouts.
