The first day of the 2021 college football season is already in action with plenty of intriguing Week 0 match-ups on tap. The return of college football also means that the College GameDay crew was on hand for their first game of the year.
The ESPN pregame show headed to the FCS and Atlanta for Saturday’s contest between Alcorn State and North Carolina Central. As is customary, Lee Corso was on hand to make his weekly, headgear pick ahead of the game.
The longtime ESPN personality made his pick on Saturday morning. Corso is taking the Alcorn State Braves to knock-off the North Carolina Central Eagles in their Week 0 match-up on Saturday night.
Corso said that he made his pick in honor of Steve McNair, who starred for Alcorn State for four years from 1991-94. The former NFL MVP was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 1994 after putting gaudy numbers during his senior season. McNair won the Walter Payton Award that same year, crowning him the best player in the FCS.

Corso also went with somewhat of a safe pick by taking Alcorn State on Saturday morning. The Braves will enter the game as 15.5-point favorites, although neither program played games during the COVID-altered 2020 season.
Alcorn State went 9-4 all the way back in 2019, while North Carolina Central went just 4-8 that same year. The start of the 2021 season will give both teams an opportunity to set the tone for the next few months, but it’s also good to just see the two schools back on the football field for the first time in almost two years.
Alcorn State and North Carolina Central will kick-off in Atlanta at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday night. The game will air on ESPN.
