The NFL Top 100 list was released earlier today — and the player at the top of that list should come as no surprise.
Voted as the No. 1 player in the league by his NFL peers, the title goes to Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“It’s definitely an honor to have,” Mahomes said. “It’s really cool because it’s voted by a lot of your peers, a lot of the guys you play against and play with. So for those guys to vote me to be the No. 1 player, it’s definitely an honor.”

This is Mahomes’ first time being voted as the league’s No. 1 player. After both his 2019 and 2020 seasons, the former league MVP came in at No. 4.
After he received a No. 4 ranking in 2020, Mahomes shared a simple message on his Twitter: a notepad emoji.
“I thought I’d been doing things for the last couple years and I’d been No. 4 two years in a row, so I thought I should’ve bumped up,” he explained. “But, I mean, I think everyone thinks they need to be a little higher.”
Players from around the NFL, opponents and teammates alike, all recognize Mahomes’ unique and unprecedented skill-set. The creativity and execution on some of his throws are enough to make even the best of players stop in awe.
The NFL world will get the privilege of watching Mahomes back in action during a Week 1 matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Sep. 12.
