Oklahoma fans came out in full force to officially kick off the Brent Venables era at the Sooners’ spring game on Saturday.
Oklahoma football had a turbulent offseason. Lincoln Riley left for USC. So did Caleb Williams. The Sooners then went out and hired the defensive-minded Venables away from Clemson.
Fans aren’t dwelling on the past, though. They’re buying in to what Venables is selling.
Oklahoma’s spring game on Saturday was a sellout.
“Updated look at this impressive crowd! Fans still filing in,” Dusty Dvoracek said. “Incredible turnout from SoonerNation!”

For those Oklahoma fans still thinking about their ex, Lincoln Riley had may 1,000 fans attend his spring game at USC today.
It’s pretty miserable.

Enjoy Southern California, Lincoln.
The Sooners, meanwhile, will still be a threat to win the Big 12 this upcoming season. Venables certainly has big shoes to fill.
One thing Riley always seemed to lack in Norman was an elite defensive and strong trench play. Venables could fix that in a hurry. He had elite defensive units at Clemson these past few years.
As long as Oklahoma fans stay loyal – they always do – the Sooners should have a good 2022 season.
