It seems like Katie Nolan isn’t giving much thought to the possibility of taking over for Maria Taylor’s role hosting College GameDay.
With Taylor off to NBC, ESPN is looking for a new co-host on its ever popular weekly college football showcase. Earlier today, Awful Announcing’s Jim Weber wrote a piece handicapping the potential replacements for Taylor, and he included Nolan on the list as a 75-1 longshot.
“On the surface, this doesn’t make any sense, as Nolan has no experience on college football or sideline reporting for ESPN,” Weber writes. “But keep in mind that ESPN is reportedly paying her over $1 million per year just to currently be a utility player without a real home on TV. Nolan would bring a comedic twist to the role like Pat McAfee did when joining GameDay if ESPN wanted to infuse the broadcast with more fun.”
Nolan’s sense of humor and quirkiness would be an interesting fit on GameDay, but it would be a shocker if ESPN moved her into that role. Even she thinks so.
After all, just look at her response to the Awful Announcing article.

Nolan has been at ESPN since 2017. She has been used in a variety of ways, including as the host of her own show Always Late with Katie Nolan, which was discontinued last year.
Currently, Nolan produces her Sports? podcast and frequently appears on shows such as Highly Questionable.
As for GameDay, we don’t have any inside information, but we agree with Weber that Holly Rowe, Laura Rutledge and Molly McGrath seem like the best bets to take over for Taylor this fall.
