Every tweet from Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson is special in its own right. But the one Magic made today has fans especially interested.
Taking to Twitter earlier this afternoon, Magic tweeted that the Lakers are one of two “big market teams” that needs to improve. The other is the New York Knicks.
“The two big market teams that need to improve are the Lakers and the Knicks,” Magic tweeted.
As with almost any Magic Johnson tweet, the comments and quote tweets are filled with a combination of jokes, rage and questions. But some of the responses are pretty interesting:
“Magic with some real bold takes this afternoon,” one fan replied.
“Thank you for the A+ analysis here, Earvin Magic Johnson,” wrote a Knicks fan.
“So glad you aren’t a GM anymore so you can speak freely to give us such insightful analysis. Thank you Magic!” another fan wrote.
“Wow Magic, this is transcendent thinking,” wrote a fourth.

It’s no big secret that the Los Angeles Lakers are pretty down bad right now. They just fired head coach Frank Vogel after missing the playoffs for the first time in his three-year tenure.
Meanwhile, the team has aging stars, limited assets to make trades or acquire top draft picks, and a head coaching search to go through.
If they don’t rebound this year, the Lakers might find themselves in the doldrums for quite a while.
