Look: Max Scherzer’s Wife Reacts To His Start Today

July 30, 2021 by The Spun

With the MLB trade deadline quickly approaching (Friday 4 p.m. ET), Washington ace Max Scherzer likely notched his final start with the Nationals earlier this afternoon.

Allowing just one run, three hits and logging five strikeouts through six innings pitched, Scherzer led the Nats to a 3-1 victory over the Phillies in the first game of today’s double-header.

With this solid performance, the three-time Cy Young Award winner claimed his 92nd “Curly W” through nearly seven years with the Nationals franchise.

Posting a photo with their three children after the game, Scherzer’s wife, Erica, reacted to win No. 92.

“ALL the feels for that Curly W. #Natitude,” she wrote on Twitter.

All three of Scherzer’s children were born after he arrived in Washington back in 2015. After his presumed final start, the 14-year veteran shared how much the organization means to him and his family.

“This is where my family started. I came here without kids, now I’ve got three kids…it’s been a very fun experience for me being in DC. What can you say about the fans? That’s where that championship will always mean something to all of us,” he said in a postgame press conference, per Nats insider Chelsea Janes.

Almost through the final year of Scherzer’s current Washington contract, the Nationals will look to get some value out of the 37-year-old pitcher before he becomes an unrestricted free agent this coming offseason.

The Dodgers, Giants and Padres are likely at the top of Scherzer’s list as he reportedly hopes to play for a West Coast team, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Several other teams have also been linked to a possible trade.

Wherever he ends up, it appears Scherzer will always be appreciated by the Washington fanbase — and vice versa.
