On Thursday night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys stepped on the field for the first game of the 2021 NFL season.
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers entered the contest as heavy favorites over Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Before the game kicked off, the Buccaneers unveiled their Super Bowl banner in front of a packed house.
Before the game could officially start, though, the national anthem had to be sung. That was done by none other than former Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams.
Here’s the anthem.

Her rendition received mixed reviews, but the majority of those on Twitter only had positive things to say.
“Beautiful anthem, cool night-time flyover, and we’re about to open the 2021 season. Bucs-Cowboys, just a minute away,” Buccaneers reporter Greg Auman said.

“Michelle killed the National Anthem,” former NFL star wide receiver Chad Johnson said on Thursday night.

Not everyone is going to agree on whether or not the national anthem was sung well or not. There have been plenty of controversial renditions in the past, but tonight’s was well-received.
If nothing else, it was just nice to see the anthem sung in front of a massive crowd in person on Thursday night.
