The 2022 season will be the start of a new era in Oklahoma football with Brent Venables taking over the reins. One coach who will be a part of the new era has a warning for the rest of college football.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Oklahoma wide receivers coach Cale Gundy retweeted photos from the Sooners’ recent spring game. He then declared that “things are about to change in college football.”
It was only an exhibition game, but the hype around Oklahoma is real after their spring game. Their new offensive under Jeff Lebby with quarterback Dillon Gabriel looked good, while their defense under the defensive-minded Venables really impressed people.
Gunday’s message was quickly shared by tons of Oklahoma fans who are excited for next season. They all agree that 2022 is going to be a turning point for the Sooners:

“Thank you Coach! The teams were awesome! And we can’t wait for the season,” one fan replied.
“We looked GOOD out there!! Red & white!! Offense & defense!! Can’t wait for September!!!” wrote another.
“I’ll bet on Cale Gundy all day, every day,” a third fan wrote.
2021 was a comparatively down year for the Oklahoma Sooners. They failed to win the Big 12 title for the first time in six years, and Lincoln Riley stunned the country by leaving after the season.
But 2022 looks like it will be different. The team certainly believes it will.
