The Pittsburgh Steelers have a crowded QB room heading into the 2022 season.
With a seventh-round pick (No. 241 overall) in this year’s draft, the Steelers selected South Dakota State quarterback Chris Oladokun.

The Steelers used their first pick of the draft (No. 20) to select Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett. The team also acquired former No. 2 overall pick Mitch Trubisky earlier this offseason. The selection of Oladokun doesn’t bode well for reserve QB option Mason Rudolph, who served as backup to recently-retired Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger for the past few seasons.
Oladokun finished his first and only season in South Dakota with 3,164 yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He began his collegiate career at South Florida before transferring to Samford in 2019. The 24-year-old QB used all five years of his college eligibility.
Oladokun will likely battle for the third-string spot with Rudolph ahead of the 2022 season.
We caught up with the incoming QB during a Q&A earlier this offseason.
