College football had its most-watched game of the season to date and it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that it featured two SEC teams.
LSU-Alabama averaged five million viewers, which made it the most-watched game on cable this year and ESPN’s most-viewed game since Florida-LSU in 2019.

Despite how low-scoring this game was (Alabama won 20-14), LSU gave its arch-rival one heck of a fight. It’s no wonder everyone was tuned in to this one, considering the Crimson Tide held just a six-point lead going into the fourth quarter.
LSU even had a chance to win late in the fourth quarter but Alabama’s defense was able to stifle its offense. Quarterback Max Johnson finished with 160 yards through the air with two touchdowns to one interception.
Many were expecting Alabama to win comfortably considering everything that’s gone on with LSU this year. Results-wise, the Tigers came into this game at 4-4 and had also already agreed on head coach Ed Orgeron leaving the program after the season.
Despite that, they played hard and almost had one of the upsets of the season.
Alabama will have a break from SEC action this Saturday against New Mexico State, while LSU will host Arkansas.
