On Thursday night, like Boise State and UCF were supposed to take the field for kickoff just after 7:00 p.m. ET.
Unfortunately, nasty weather in the area led fans to evacuate the area several times and forced a few delays. After the inclement weather finally passed, the game officially kicked off at 9:45 p.m. ET.
Following a near three-hour delay, fans immediately got the action they had been waiting for. On UCF’s opening possession, star quarterback Dillon Gabriel took his team the length of the field.
After a long run got the team in the redzone, Gabriel looked to have a wide open man in the endzone for a clear touchdown. Unfortunately he severely under-threw his wide receiver and the pass was intercepted.
To make matters worse, the interception was returned 100 yards for the pick-six.
Check it out.

It’s a rare mistake from Gabriel, who doesn’t turn the football over very often. During the 2019 season – his first as a starter – he threw just seven interceptions on nearly 400 passing attempts.
He was even better during his second season as a starting quarterback, throwing just four interceptions on 413 passing attempts last year.
Unfortunately, he didn’t get off to the best start to the 2021 season. We’ll have to wait and see if he and the Knights can rebound after the tough start.
Boise State holds a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
