Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will go toe-to-toe for the first time ever in each of their careers this weekend, when the seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback returns to Foxborough for his first ever game against the New England Patriots. The 44-year-old comes back with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the reigning title holder, but will need to be ready for whatever his former head coach throws at him.
The Bucs enter as the favorites on the road against the Patriots and rookie quarterback Mac Jones. However, Marcellus Wiley thinks that Brady actually has more at stake than Belichick this weekend.
The FOX Sports host explained that despite the quarterback’s success since leaving the Patriots, he still has to prove that he can beat his former head coach straight up to fully prove that he can win on his own.
“Tom Brady needs this game more than Bill Belichick. You don’t want to go back to Foxborough and lose to Bill Belichick and prove that Belichick knows you better than yourself,” Wiley said on Speak For Yourself on Wednesday. “And that’s what this is all about… If Bill Belichick with his sorry team, go out there and beat the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Bucs with Tom Brady, [Tom] couldn’t look Bill in the eye. He couldn’t look at Bill in the eye and tell him what he really wanted to say, which is ‘I’m over you,’ cause Bill Belichick would have his number.”
“I hate to say it man, I know that Brady has had more success post-dynasty, but if he doesn’t show up in Foxborough, Belichick is gonna have a little snicker for him: ‘I still got it.’”

Wiley makes an interesting point, but Brady has downplayed the match-up with the Patriots all week and maintained that this upcoming weekend is just like preparing for any other game.
Still, Sunday will be a homecoming for the seven-time champ, whether he wants it to be or not. Surely, a win would mean a little extra, especially if it comes against Belichick, who’s shared in the quarterback’s success over the years.
Brady will try to prove that he can get the job done against Belichick’s Patriots this weekend on Sunday Night Football.
